The First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, vehemently denied any connection to the crimes committed by Jeffrey Epstein on Thursday, a scandal that her husband, President Donald Trump, has long downplayed. “The lies that associate me with the vile character that is Jeffrey Epstein must stop today,” Melania Trump declared in front of cameras during a surprise appearance at the White House.
“People who lie about me lack ethics, humility, and respect,” she added. It was not immediately clear what Melania Trump was referring to or why she chose to speak out on Thursday. “For years, numerous false images and statements regarding Epstein and myself have circulated on social media. Be cautious about what you believe. These images and narratives are completely false,” the First Lady continued.
“I have never been involved in any way”
Jeffrey Epstein was arrested and charged in July 2019 for sexual exploitation of minors and conspiracy. He was found dead in his cell on August 10, 2019, while awaiting trial. The autopsy concluded it was a suicide.
The US Department of Justice has released over three million files related to the investigation into the disgraced financier, revealing the extent of his connections to prominent individuals. “I was never aware of the abuses committed by Epstein against his victims. I have never been involved in any way. I did not participate,” Melania Trump stated, as photos surfaced showing her, along with Donald Trump, at events with Jeffrey Epstein in the New York jet-set scene.
“I have never been accused or convicted of a crime related to sex trafficking, abuse of minors, and other repugnant behaviors of Epstein,” she reiterated, urging Congress to hold a public hearing for Epstein abuse survivors to “give these victims the opportunity to testify under oath.”
