The American WTI barrel rebounds by more than 5%

The oil prices are rebounding today due to doubts about the strength of the ceasefire between Iran and the United States and because of a still largely paralyzed Strait of Hormuz. Around 1 pm, the price of a barrel of North Sea Brent, for delivery in June, rose by 3.85% to $98.40. Its American equivalent, the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) barrel, for delivery in May, gained 5.05% to $99.18.

An Iranian delegation expected tonight in Pakistan for talks

An Iranian delegation is expected to arrive in Pakistan Thursday evening for talks with the United States, according to the Iranian ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam. The American army will remain deployed near Iran until the full implementation of a “real agreement,” said US President Donald Trump on Wednesday, following the announcement of a fragile two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran.

Paris deems a toll in the Strait of Hormuz “unacceptable”

Establishing a toll mechanism in the Strait of Hormuz would be deemed “unacceptable,” stated French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot on Thursday, after Donald Trump mentioned creating a joint company to manage navigation in the strait with payment. “Freedom of navigation in international waters is a common good,” emphasized the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Air France extends the suspension of its flights to the Middle East

Air France is extending the suspension of its flights to the Middle East until May 3rd. Due to security concerns at the destination and the continued closure of airspace to commercial flights, the company is forced to prolong the suspension of its flights: to/from Tel Aviv, Beirut, Dubai, and Riyadh until May 3, 2026 (until May 4, 2026 for flights departing from Dubai), as detailed by Air France.

The income tax campaign is launched

As is the case every spring, French citizens can submit their income tax returns starting from Thursday until the beginning of June, in a campaign launched amidst debates on high wealth taxation. Income tax returns for 2025 can be submitted online until June 4th at the latest, depending on their place of residence. Paper format declarations must be filed by May 19th at the latest.
