BYD finally launches its premium brand in France. Meet Denza, with two cars: the Denza Z9GT and D9. Electric and plug-in hybrid models, with recharge as fast as refueling with gasoline.
The high-end brand of the BYD group officially launched worldwide at an event in Paris. Denza is now expanding beyond its Chinese borders. Its arrival in the European market, especially in France, revolves around an initial offer of two cars.
More on this from BYD: BYD launches its new car in France: over 1,100 hp and recharges in 5 minutes for the Denza Z9GT
Two body types for the European market
For its debut on the Old Continent, the manufacturer introduces a shooting brake, the Denza Z9GT. This model is available as a plug-in hybrid, priced at 101,000 euros.
The 100% electric version of this car is priced at 115,000 euros. Alongside this, the brand launches the D9 DM-i, a minivan designed for the premium segment.
Unlike the shooting brake, this model is only available in a plug-in hybrid version, with a fixed price of 78,500 euros.
Very high-power charging infrastructure to be built
Beyond vehicles, the company highlights the introduction in Europe of its ultra-fast charging technology called FLASH Charging. This system can deliver up to 1,500 kW of power, with a 10% to 70% charge in 5 minutes, a 10% to 80% charge in 6 minutes, and a 10% to 97% charge in 9 minutes. Clearly revolutionary.
However, these very high charging powers require specific charging stations that are yet to be deployed. During the presentation in Paris, the BYD group confirmed its intention to install 6,000 charging stations of this type outside of China in the next twelve months, with 3,000 specifically planned in the European territory.
Targeted physical distribution network
The initial phase of commercialization in Europe focuses on five markets: France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom. The brand’s goal is to expand later to target a presence in around thirty European countries by the end of 2026.
To support this initiative, a network of physical dealerships is being established. The manufacturer’s goal is to open at least 150 stores on the continent by the end of 2026.
