On Easter weekend, a man in his thirties targeted several businesses in Place Nationale, Montauban, before being arrested thanks to surveillance cameras.
This Sunday, April 5, between 3 and 4 in the morning, an individual was arrested by the police following a series of attempted break-ins and burglaries in downtown Montauban.
The suspect was spotted by City security operators using surveillance cameras, leading to his interception at Place Nationale. The 34-year-old man initially provided his brother’s identity in an attempt to evade his own past, but he was eventually identified by national police, with his brother even filing a complaint against him.
In reality, the man was under a search warrant for escaping custody on November 22 while in semi-liberty in Aix-en-Provence. After appearing before a magistrate at the Montauban public prosecutor’s office on Monday, he was placed in pre-trial detention for an immediate court appearance on Tuesday, April 7, at the correctional court. Five shopkeepers filed complaints.
We will provide an update on the outcome of this hearing in a future edition.
