After six years of absence, “Les Anges” make their big comeback on TFX with a new season filmed in Miami, without the original producer. However, despite the nostalgia displayed, the first images raise doubts. Between immediate tensions, controversial casting, and disappointing ratings, this comeback struggles to convince. The program promised a more peaceful renewal, but seems to be reverting to its old ways.
A comeback marked by immediate tensions
From the first minutes, the show dives back into what made its reputation. Indeed, the production relies on memorable moments, especially with the cult line “Allé! You’re a girl, you don’t have shampoo…” However, behind this nostalgic effect, old mechanics surface quickly. Contrary to the promises of a feel-good program, tensions arise almost instantly. The cast, made up of reality TV regulars, comes with a lot of grudges. Thus, the staging of the reunions already sets the stage for conflicts. The viewer quickly understands that clashes are never far away.
Quickly, the situation deteriorates within the couple formed by Anthony and Solène. Indeed, Anthony’s jealousy explodes when he learns about his partner’s past with Tom. “Stop looking at her, dude!” he exclaims, already tense. For his part, Tom stirs up the situation with provocation. Solène, on the other hand, laments the “enormous” proportions this story is taking. This sequence perfectly illustrates the tone of this new season. Despite the reassuring words of the production, disputes remain central. Therefore, it is difficult to believe in a real change of direction for the show.
Low ratings and public criticism
Furthermore, the audience numbers confirm this fragile start. The launch only attracts 159,000 viewers, which is 0.9% audience share. A disappointing score for such a highly anticipated return. In comparison, some other shows in the same time slot did almost as well, if not better. Thus, the program fails to create an event. The next day, the trend is confirmed with similar results. Despite a slight uptick, the show remains below the symbolic 1% audience share according to Médiamétrie. These performances raise concerns regarding the future of the broadcast and audience retention.
On social media, reactions are just as severe. Many users criticize an outdated concept and an unconvincing cast. “The cast is shattered on the ground so normal,” writes one user. Others go further, suggesting a possible early end. “It’s totally lame,” can also be read. These comments reflect a real disappointment. However, some were hoping for a renewal after several years of absence. Ultimately, this return seems to confirm the format’s decline. Between criticism and disillusionment, the show struggles to regain its former glory. Stay tuned…
