Sia to Pay $42,500 per Month in Child Support to Ex-Husband
Sia, the Australian singer known for hits like “Chandelier,” is in the midst of a high-profile divorce from her ex-husband Daniel Bernad. The couple, who married in 2023 in Italy, had a son named Somersault Wonder Bernad together. Their relationship took a turn when Sia discovered the existence of their child during divorce proceedings, leading to a custody battle between the former partners.
According to court documents obtained by People, Daniel Bernad accused Sia of being an unfit mother due to alleged substance abuse issues. However, Sia refuted these claims by stating that she had been sober for over six months and was actively participating in a detox program. In a recent legal development, Sia has agreed to pay $42,500 per month in child support to her ex-husband, starting from April 1, 2026. This financial arrangement will continue until their son turns 18, with potential extensions for educational expenses.
Additionally, Sia will be responsible for funding their son’s private school tuition, extracurricular activities, and uninsured medical costs. She must also secure health and life insurance policies worth $5 million for their son, or establish a trust fund for his future financial security.
In terms of custody arrangements, Sia and Daniel will share joint legal custody of their son, with a detailed schedule for physical custody implemented since April 1, 2026. The co-parenting plan includes alternating weeks, weekends, and holiday rotations, with special occasions like Father’s Day and Hanukkah set aside for Daniel Bernad to spend with his son. Meanwhile, Sia will have designated times for Mother’s Day, Easter, and Christmas celebrations with her son.
Overall, the divorce proceedings between Sia and Daniel Bernad shed light on the complexities of co-parenting and financial support agreements in high-profile separations.
