INTERVIEW – The senior partner of the law firm warns that there should be no expectation of a relaxation in America’s determination to control strategic markets in energy, digital, and AI.

With five hundred lawyers including one hundred and twenty partners, Gide is the largest independent business law firm in France. Frédéric Nouel is the head of the executive committee.

LE FIGARO. – In recent weeks, what are your clients telling you? Do they still imagine a zone protected from upheavals?

FRÉDÉRIC NOUEL. – Their concerns are at a maximum. The war against Iran comes at a time when the United States, China, and Russia continue to aggress Europe. But Europe is resisting: seventy-five years of European organization have made it a solid place for sovereign and private investors. They know they are investing in a stable region with a solid legal framework. For Europe, the time has come for consolidation to unify as many texts as possible, erase the specificities that still fragment the market, and assert itself as a continent of prosperity, stability, and freedom.
