Montpellier, a city labeled French Tech, has just received a new international distinction from the Financial Times magazine. The Business & Innovation Centre (BIC), an incubator for startups, was ranked 10th in Europe’s Leading Start-Up Hubs 2026. This recognition highlights the high-level expertise that the Montpellier incubator has been providing for 39 years to support the success of startups.
On a national level, the BIC of Montpellier ranks third behind two Parisian incubators, Station F, and HEC Paris. This places the Business & Innovation Centre as the top innovation hub in France outside of the Paris region.
Since its establishment in 1987, the Montpellier incubator has supported over 900 companies with strong growth potential. These companies have generated a revenue of over 2 billion euros and created over 10,000 jobs, with a survival rate of 95% at 3 years compared to the national average of 75%. Some notable companies incubated by the BIC include Swile, Teads, Axeptio, Medincell, Seqone Genomics, Urbasolar, and BIME.
The BIC of Montpellier has become a global ambassador of Montpellier’s excellence and has made innovation a key factor in the economic development of the region, benefiting employment.
