The essential Introducing roller derby, that’s the goal of the chocolate trophy. Saturday, April 11 and Sunday, April 12, the Fitelle gymnasium in Castres will be the center of a sporting event that shouldn’t be missed under any circumstances. Castres’ Black Crows, currently engaged in the National 3 championship, are hosting stages 2 and 3 of the 2026 chocolate trophy, a roller derby competition that is making its mark on the regional sports calendar. For more than a decade, terms like calling off the jam, hip check, hip whip, and snowplow have become commonplace on the Agoët sidelines. Beyond the Atlantic, and popularized by films such as “Whip It” or “Bliss,” Roller Derby has significantly grown as evidenced by the presence of 7 teams at the starting line this weekend. Unconventional nicknames Bloody Patchol’ from Albi, Pink Block from Toulouse, Les Dégorgeuses from Pamiers, Head Hunters from Narbonne, Coccyx Lexis from Perpignan, Les Chimères from Rodez and of course the Black Crows from Castres will be participating. Colorful names that can also be found on the players’ jerseys with equally evocative nicknames like Deydë Struction, Barjo Babe, Barjo Old, or Trash Test. So many promises of fun and intensity. With 6 games per day, from 9am to 8pm, the schedule is full and enticing. In short, there will be sports! “Highly motivated players, contact, speed, tight turns, and an insane atmosphere… In short, everything you need for a memorable time!
