Israel claims to have carried out strikes on Iran’s largest petrochemical complex, while the chief of intelligence of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps was reportedly eliminated in Tehran on Monday. Meanwhile, Iran continues to pound Israel: a volley of missiles was fired, one of them destroying a residential building in Haifa and causing at least four deaths.

It is 7 o’clock in the morning on Monday, April 6th in central Israel. A submunition from an Iranian missile explodes, captured by a surveillance camera. The driver gets up a bit confused, slightly injured. In another car, there was no one. And in a building in Ramat Gan, a suburb of Tel Aviv, all residents were in shelters. This Monday, about thirty impact points were caused by submunitions from missiles or debris falling after interception. Sirens sounded six times in the country to warn of missile waves from Iran, but the anti-aircraft defense system intercepted them all.

But on Sunday, a ballistic missile struck a residential area in Haifa, the largest city in northern Israel. An entire six-story building was gutted. On Monday, the rescue teams retrieved the last two bodies: a family of four killed in the strike, the second deadliest since the start of the war.

Lifted with a crane, the missile warhead contains 450 kilograms of explosives. Surprisingly, the warhead did not detonate. But the anti-aircraft defense system is not foolproof. “There is a success rate of about 90%, but there are 10% that get through,” said General Yossi Kuperwasser from the Jerusalem Institute for Strategy and Security.

“Many observers are now wondering, after 38 days of war, whether Israel still has enough anti-missile missiles to counter Iranian attacks. According to the Ministry of Defense, the answer is yes, and the minister added: the military campaign can still continue,” commented Arnauld Miguet from France Télévisions Middle East.
