The Iranian Revolutionary Guards on Sunday claimed that the Strait of Hormuz “will never return to its previous state”, especially for the United States and Israel, as Tehran prepares a new security arrangement in the Persian Gulf to exclude perceived hostile actors.
In a message posted on the American X platform, the navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps declared: “The Strait of Hormuz will never be the same again, especially for the United States and Israel.”
It specifies being “in the final stages of operational preparations” for what Iranian officials describe as a “new order in the Persian Gulf”.
This statement comes a few days after the approval by the Iranian parliament committee of a bill proposing the imposition of transit fees on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Iranian media, the bill includes passage fees to be paid in Iranian rial, a ban on passage for the United States and Israel, as well as restrictions on countries participating in unilateral sanctions against Iran.
The project also includes provisions related to Iran’s sovereignty over the strait, the prerogatives of its armed forces, maritime security, environmental issues, and legal cooperation with Oman.
This escalation of regional tensions follows the joint offensive launched on February 28 by the United States and Israel against Iran, which resulted in more than 1,340 deaths, including the then Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
In response, Iran carried out drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting American military installations, causing loss of life, property damage, and significant disruptions to global markets and air traffic.
