After his team’s defeat, the coach of Olympique de Marseille regretted defensive mistakes that cost a lot.
OM coach Habib Beye deplored a “frustrating” loss to Monaco (2-1) on Sunday, especially regretting the team’s defensive shortcomings.
“It’s a frustrating loss, considering the content, the way we approached the match. We had opportunities to take the lead, then to come back. But defensively, we give away too much, against quality teams,” said the Marseille coach after the game.
“On the first goal, we were too passive. On the second, we made a mistake and paid for it. Right now, things are not going our way, it goes from positive dynamics. It’s a shame to give away so much. We make mistakes that cost us a lot,” he added.
“Belief” and “confidence”
“We can’t be satisfied with losing twice in a row,” Beye also acknowledged. “On Friday (against Metz) we absolutely must win, we must be very clear,” he added. “I have no doubt about our ability to achieve the objective, even if we are on a negative trend. My job until May 16 is to have belief and give them confidence,” concluded the Marseille coach.
In the mixed zone, Marseille defender Facundo Medina promised that the OM players would not give up despite this second consecutive loss.
“We won’t give up, we won’t give up, we won’t give up,” assured the Argentinian. “We need to work, do our self-critique, especially us in defense. We didn’t play badly, we had chances, but we need to be effective,” he added. “We work to win and I’m a little disappointed,” he concluded.
