PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Portland broke a record for its daily daytime high on April 5. The previous record was set in 1977 at 77 degrees, but this year, on April 5, 2026, Portland hit 79 degrees at Portland International Airport. Last Easter, the high was only 60 degrees with rain showers.

People in Portland took advantage of the record-setting warmth. Families and children gathered at Laurelhurst Park for Easter egg hunts, enjoying the sunshine. Taylor Scoma noted the contrast with last year’s cold, rainy Easter.

Mallory Demeter, a resident of Portland, is considering getting air conditioning installed due to the unseasonably warm weather. The Union Gospel Mission hosted an Easter brunch for those in need in Downtown Portland.

Elsewhere, Salem tied its record high of 77 degrees from 1952, while Astoria just missed breaking its record by two degrees at 72 degrees. The day was so warm that bald eagles were spotted basking in the sun on an Astoria beach, captured by a viewer.

The forecast for Monday looks to be a repeat of the warm, sunny weather, with temperatures expected to reach 78 degrees. So, grab your sunglasses and sunscreen and enjoy the early taste of summer! Remember to stay updated with the latest forecasts from the KOIN 6 Weather Team.
