The School of Veterinary Medicine in Lyon has created the One Health master’s program to train professionals in crisis management at the intersection of human, animal, and environmental issues.
Julien Ferrero, a student at Vet Agro Sup in Lyon, joined the one-year International One Health Master’s program in September 2025. This program is the first of its kind in France, aimed at preventing or controlling health crises through a multidisciplinary approach.
The upcoming One Health Summit in Lyon from April 5 to 7, 2026, initiated by French President Emmanuel Macron, will bring together international delegations, representatives from international organizations, scientists, experts, and public decision-makers to address global health issues.
Focusing on the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health, the program aims to address diseases that can be transmitted from animals to humans, such as brucellosis. It emphasizes the importance of proactive measures to eradicate animal diseases before they pose a threat to human health.
The master’s program at Vet Agro Sup meets the demands of international organizations like WHO, OIE, FAO, and UNEP, preparing students for careers as coordinators in these global health initiatives.
