The attack took place early on Sunday, April 5th, in the eastern part of the city of Gaza. Four Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike, as reported by the civil defense, a relief organization operating under the authority of the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas. “Four martyrs and five wounded arrived at the hospital after an Israeli drone fired two projectiles at a group of civilians,” also stated Al-Chifa hospital, the main hospital in the Palestinian territory.
The Israeli army claimed in a statement to have identified a “terrorist cell” posing an “immediate threat” and carried out “a targeted strike (…) to eliminate the threat” within this war-torn territory for over two years.
Since the fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas came into effect, both parties have accused each other of violating the truce. Since then, nearly 715 Palestinians have been killed, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry in the controlled enclave, with figures deemed reliable by the UN. The Israeli army, on the other hand, reported five soldiers killed since the same date.
