Every spring, Marseille becomes the stage for a unique encounter between image and sound. From March 30 to April 4, 2026, the International Music & Cinema Marseille Festival returns for its 27th edition, asserting its uniqueness in the European cultural landscape more than ever.

The festival has always explored the intimate connection between music and filmmaking. Here, the original soundtrack is not just background music: it becomes a narrative element in its own right, a sensitive writing that shapes the emotion of the film. Directors, composers, professionals, and enthusiasts come together for six days of screenings, meetings, and events that highlight this alchemy.

The program includes a demanding selection of international films where music plays a central role, as well as competitions, premieres, and privileged exchanges with the invited artists. The festival also provides valuable visibility to young talents, revealing new voices in cinema and musical composition. This year, 10 feature films and 17 short films have been selected for the official competition.

The heart of the festival will beat once again at the Artplexe Canebière, hosting most of the screenings and public events. However, for the 2026 edition, the novelty lies in the closing ceremony venue. It will take place at La Criée National Theater of Marseille, confirming the Festival’s presence in the region’s flagship cultural institutions. The programming will also take place at several iconic cultural venues in Marseille, including the Conservatoire Pierre Barbizet de Marseille, the Alcazar library, Les Variétés cinema, Videodrome 2, and many other local cultural partners.

As honored guests this edition, acclaimed director and actress Veerle Baetens, as well as Steven Price. From “Gravity” to “Baby Driver,” passing through “Suicide Squad,” this composer creates unique scores for bold cinematic visions.
