This book is beautiful, presenting a girl amazed to discover, during her walks, the music of the city, fields, and life. La joie de lire publishes “When Everything Becomes Music,” an album by Miran Park, a Korean illustrator whose soft and subtle lines, adorned with tiny touches of color, give a sense of freedom, allowing readers to immerse themselves. Take the first double-page, titled “When the Day Breaks.” At no point do we learn that the door of the house goes click-clack or that the little dog barks. But seeing the protagonist leave the house, her dog running and smiling, our imagination starts moving. Sometimes, the landscape suggests a musical instrument, a musical note – such as the contemplation of a sprawling city or the flight of birds. But boldness reaches its peak when we must dream of the song that the leaves make as they bask in the sun. A delight.
