In the night from Wednesday 1st to Thursday 2nd of April, a spectacular theft occurred on the slopes of Croix-Rousse (Lyon 1st). Professional filming equipment was stolen from a truck that was under surveillance.

The incident took place on Rue Lemot, where several technical vehicles were parked for the filming of a feature film for the Netflix platform. Despite the presence of two security guards, one or more individuals managed to break into one of the trucks by cutting its roof.

Inside, the thieves took two professional cameras and a series of high-end lenses. The damage is estimated between 500,000 and 1 million euros.

According to information gathered by Le Parisien, the perpetrators were well prepared for the operation. Evidence includes the neutralization of a motion detector supposed to protect the equipment and the absence of fingerprints at the scene of the theft. Investigators do not rule out the possibility that the thieves had accomplices.

An investigation has been opened by the Lyon public prosecutor’s office and entrusted to the judicial police to identify the perpetrators.
