In the 46th minute of the match against Atletico de Madrid on Saturday at the “Riazor Metropolitano” stadium, Barcelona almost started the second half with a numerical disadvantage when the referee showed a red card to Catalan defender Gerard Martin.

The referee initially gave Martin a direct red card for a violent tackle in the middle of the field, during which he kicked Tiago Almada, an Atletico player, in the leg.

But after reviewing the action with video technology, the referee reversed his decision, showing Martin had first hit the ball before making contact with his opponent’s foot.

The referee rescinded the red card and instead gave the Barca player a yellow card.

Rojiblancos’ player Nico Gonzalez had already been sent off before the end of the first half.
