Egypt to intensify diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Expatriate Egyptians, Badr Abdel-Ati, stated that Egypt would exert all its diplomatic efforts to promote de-escalation in the region.

Abdel-Ati made these remarks during a meeting with several opinion leaders and directors of research centers in Moscow, aiming to strengthen communication channels with Russian intellectual circles.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation between Egyptian and Russian research centers, highlighting the pivotal role research institutions play in providing strategic perspectives to support decision-makers. He emphasized the need to expand the areas of cooperation and exchange of expertise in research and analysis to contribute to the national interests of both countries.

Abdel-Ati also discussed the guiding principles of Egyptian foreign policy, based on the strategic balance principle. He underscored the principles guiding Egyptian policy, including preserving the nation-state, respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, rejecting interference in domestic affairs, and resolving disputes through peaceful means.

Regarding the strategic partnership between Egypt and Russia, Abdel-Ati praised the fruitful collaboration, highlighting progress in the construction of the Dabaa nuclear plant and the Russian industrial zone project in the Suez Canal Economic Zone. These developments illustrate the successful cooperation between the two parties and their shared commitment to elevate bilateral cooperation.

Regionally, Abdel-Ati mentioned Egypt’s intensive efforts to reduce regional escalation and contain current tensions, emphasizing Egypt’s commitment to diplomacy and dialogue.

Discussions also covered security arrangements for the region and ways to support security and stability in the Middle East.

The meeting featured an interactive discussion on various regional and international issues, including updates on the Palestinian cause, the future of the international system, Security Council reform efforts, challenges facing non-proliferation regimes, and their impact on international security.
