Viral Content – Films, comments, and massively shared, parliamentary inquiry commissions are now propelled into the heart of social networks and the culture of buzz
In the era of social networks, nothing escapes the culture of buzz, not even inquiry commissions. Once confined to a discreet role of parliamentary oversight, they no longer content themselves with “shedding light” on public interest topics. Filmed, commented on, and massively shared, they become a true entertainment on social networks.
The inquiry commission on neutrality, operation, and financing of public broadcasting does not escape Internet users. Created on October 28, 2025 at the initiative of the UDR group, it aims to examine the editorial choices of the public service, identify possible external influences, or even analyze budget management. Many public figures have been heard to shed light on these topics, contributing to transforming these sessions into media events. Among them are Xavier Niel, Nagui, Samuel Étienne, Léa Salamé, Élise Lucet, and Hugo Clément.
The case of Samuel Étienne, host of “Questions pour un champion,” was particularly circulating online, with sequences suggesting the indemnities he would have received upon leaving France Télévisions. Another widely circulated sequence online: the hearing of Vincent Bolloré, whose critical view of public broadcasting fueled many debates in the video comments.
