A few days ago, the association Handicap Inclusion Performance (HIP) organized a day of mountain activities discovery at the Saint-Jean Montclar resort for a group of young people with mental disabilities who are members of the Aix University Club (AUC) in Aix-en-Provence.
This day is part of HIP’s commitment to promoting wider access to sports for marginalized populations, especially people with disabilities.
An immersive sports and human experience in the mountains
The program for the day included: – Ski initiation in the morning, led by instructors from the French Ski School (ESF) in Saint Jean Montclar – Snowshoe discovery in the afternoon, guided by a high mountain guide. This activity was offered to families to share parent-child time.
For some participants, it was their first experience on the slopes. Supervised by professionals and trained volunteers, the young people were able to evolve safely in an environment tailored to their needs.
Beyond sports practice, this day helped build self-confidence, autonomy, and the joy of sharing a collective experience.
A partnership for inclusion
This action was made possible through the collaboration between HIP and the Aix University Club, a major player in university and associative sports in Aix-en-Provence, committed to welcoming people with disabilities. This partnership illustrates the common goal of both organizations to: – promote access to sports for all – offer adapted and supervised experiences – combat the isolation of vulnerable populations
Actions in line with a sustainable dynamic
Through such initiatives, the HIP association continues its ambition to: – use sports as a tool for social inclusion – develop adapted sports programs, from leisure to performance – prepare talents for national and international competitions in the long term
This day in Montclar marks an additional step in the development of inclusive actions in the regional territory.
