The show at the Jean-Carrère space in Argelès-sur-Mer was a real gem, an enchanted moment full of poetry and humor. It was also a true ode to inclusion. On stage, students from three regular classes and children with disabilities from the Galaxie IEM (Motor Education Institute) interpreted skits and songs together around the theme of Jean de La Fontaine’s Fables and the world of animals.

Under the guidance of David Gonzalez, a musician and instructor at the nursery and primary schools in Argelès-sur-Mer, the children, visibly delighted to be on stage, performed their roles brilliantly: Master Fox and his beautiful crow, frivolous cicadas and hardworking ants, alternating recitation of poems and role-playing dialogues. They also beautifully sang some French classics like “The bird and the child” or “The lion has died tonight.”

This magnificent end-of-year show is the result of a year of inclusion for the students of three CP and CE1 classes from Curie-Pasteur and Molière schools and the Galaxie IEM. “We have been rehearsing since the beginning of October,” explains David Gonzalez, who spends 45 minutes per week in each class. “It’s not much, but the children are receptive and they love it!” Off stage, the young artists shared a generous snack: emotions make you hungry!
