An fire and explosion hit Dubai on Saturday during the strikes between the United States, Israel, and Iran. On LCI, a French resident said she was “shocked” and testified.
Panic spreads in the Gulf. A few hours after the start of American and Israeli strikes on Iran on Saturday, an fire broke out on the iconic artificial island The Palm in Dubai, where witnesses reported hearing an explosion, followed by thick black smoke rising from a hotel and ambulances heading towards the scene.
“We are going to sleep in the hallway,” confirms Clément Guerrand, a French resident of Dubai (see video at the top of this article). “When I entered a pharmacy, we were immediately evacuated and urgently asked to return home to seek shelter.”
According to her, the events took place in “a fairly recent neighborhood,” where “people live very securely.” “It’s astonishing, in one of the safest countries in the world,” she continued. With her family, she will now spend the next few hours in shelter. “Tonight, we are all taking refuge,” confirms the French resident. “Many neighbors have gone to the parking lots for safety. We will sleep with my son in the hallway of our home, to be as far away from the windows as possible.”
The Dubai media office confirmed an “incident” in a building in a neighborhood of the island that caused a fire and four injuries. Iran launched strikes on all Gulf oil-rich countries, except Oman, a mediator in discussions between the United States and Iran. – I.N
