Donald Trump declared on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 that the United States would “leave” Iran “very soon”, in two or three weeks, stating that the end of the military operation would not depend on negotiations with Tehran or the situation in the Strait of Hormuz. “All I have to do is leave Iran and we will do it very soon, and they will crumble,” said the American president in response to a question about fuel prices at $4. He then mentioned a deadline of “two, maybe three weeks”.

The American president also indicated that the conclusion or not of an agreement with Iran was “irrelevant”, after having said on Monday “to see an agreement” with new Iranian leaders, whom he did not name. “If France or another country wants to have its oil or gas, they will go straight to the Strait of Hormuz” and they will sort it out on their own. I think it will be a very safe place in reality but we have nothing to do with that,” said the President of the United States, from the Oval Office.

Seven dead in Lebanon

Donald Trump will address the nation on Wednesday evening regarding Iran, announced the White House spokesperson on Tuesday. “Tomorrow night at 9 PM (2 AM Thursday, Paris time), President Trump will address the nation to provide new important information about Iran,” wrote Karoline Leavitt.

On the ground, the strikes continue. The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced early Wednesday that Israeli strikes had killed a total of seven people, five in Beirut and two in the southern part of the Lebanese capital. “The enemy Israeli raid on the Jnah neighborhood in Beirut, according to an initial report, resulted in five dead and twenty-one injured in this neighborhood near the southern suburb of the capital,” the ministry wrote in a statement. It also indicated that an Israeli strike “targeting a vehicle in the Khaldeh region, south of Beirut, killed two and injured three among the civilian population.”

Explosions in Tehran, missiles towards Israel

Explosions were also heard “in neighborhoods in the north, east, and center” of the Iranian capital, reported state television Irib, speaking of “attacks on Tehran”. The Israeli army announced on Telegram Wednesday morning that they had carried out a “wave of large-scale strikes” against the Iranian capital, targeting Iranian authorities’ infrastructure in Tehran.

In retaliation, Iran fired missiles towards the Israeli state. The Israeli army reported Wednesday morning “missiles fired from Iran towards the territory of the state of Israel,” while alert sirens sounded in the country. “A short while ago, Israeli defense forces detected missiles launched from Iran towards the territory of the state of Israel. Defense systems are mobilized to intercept this threat,” the army wrote in a message on Telegram.

Attacks in Kuwait

Attack drones targeted fuel reservoirs at Kuwait International Airport, causing a fire, the national agency Kuna announced on Wednesday, citing civil aviation. “Kuwait International Airport has been subjected to clear drone attacks launched by Iran and the armed factions it supports,” the agency declared, quoting the spokesperson for the national civil aviation, Abdullah Al-Rajhi. According to him, “fuel storage reservoirs were targeted, causing a large fire on site.” No casualties reported.
