On Saturday, April 4, 2026, the pocket book fair will take place at the Quartz in Saint-Chély-d’Apcher.

The Saint-Chély pocket book fair will make its return on Saturday, April 4, 2026 for its fourth edition at the Quartz in Saint-Chély-d’Apcher. This event is organized by the Le Rouge et Le Noir bookstore, in partnership with the town’s media library. The event will run from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm continuously and admission is free.

An event that attracts beyond Lozère

Born from an idea conceived by the managers of Le Rouge et Le Noir bookstore, this event came to life 4 years ago. “We wanted to create a fair, but different from what was already being done,” explained Pascal Aurejac, the store manager.

A successful bet as, over the editions, the fair has gained in popularity. The first edition attracted nearly 1,000 visitors, compared to about 1,300 last year. “We are pleasantly surprised,” the organizer confided.

Today, the fair attracts visitors from all over Lozère, as well as neighboring departments.

    A moment of sharing

This new edition will bring together around twenty authors of novels, thrillers, or even children’s literature who will meet the public throughout the day. Their names have been gradually revealed since February 24 on the Facebook page “St Chély en poche”. Visitors will be able to discover a wide variety of books and interact with the present writers.

As in previous editions, activities will be offered to the youngest. The media library will organize several creative activities for children such as a bookmark workshop and an origami workshop. “This allows children to stay occupied while parents explore the fair,” said the organizer. A convivial day in perspective.

    A cultural rendezvous

Over the editions, Saint-Chély en poche has established itself as a beloved cultural rendezvous in northern Lozère. This success also relies on a significant network of volunteers. “Without the volunteers, there couldn’t be a fair because we couldn’t do everything on our own (with his wife),” he specified. “It’s also their fair.”

Beyond books, the organizers aim to offer a friendly atmosphere above all. “It’s a simple and convivial atmosphere,” he summarized.
