In Missouri, two women will face charges for making a false report about the disappearance of a 5-year-old girl, according to the teams at the American channel ABC.

On Monday, the police in St. Louis, Missouri, received concerning information. A child had reportedly been left unattended in an abandoned vehicle in the city of Affton. A few minutes later, the two women claimed that the vehicle had been stolen, with the young girl inside.

An Amber Alert was issued by the police, and they began searching for the vehicle and its alleged passenger. Two hours after the start of the search, the vehicle in question was found without a child inside.

Intrigued, the police went back to speak with the two women who made the call and began to doubt the existence of the abandoned child. The women claimed that the child was the daughter of one of their sisters but were unable to provide a photo or clothing belonging to the child.

According to the police investigation, the only real element of this case was the theft of the women’s car, which was found by the police. During a press conference, Colonel Jerry Lohr explained that one possible explanation was that the two women had fabricated the story to recover their stolen car, as otherwise a simple theft case would have likely been ignored.

Despite this, the St. Louis Police Department announced that they would file charges against the two women for false statements and for wasting the time and resources of the police.
