The University of Lorraine is a partner in the European project AEGIS OA (Activate European Guidance and Incentives for Sustainable Open Access publishing). As part of the European Diamond Capacity Hub, this initiative is part of a broader European dynamic in favor of open science and aims to strengthen the open access scientific publishing model called “diamond” (free for readers and authors).
Launched on March 20 in Brussels, the project is carried out by a consortium of 24 partners from 16 European countries, brought together for 2 years. It is composed of research organizations, service providers, and national competency centers.
The project aims to establish a transparent, sustainable, and high-quality ecosystem for open access scientific publishing in Europe, building on the services of the European Diamond Capacity Hub (EDCH) and developing them. To achieve this, four specific objectives have been set:
- Expand the standards of diamond open access to books
- Implement training programs to improve the skills of publishing professionals
- Enhance the tools and services of the European Diamond Capacity Hub
- Ensure coordination of national diamond centers to consolidate sustainable solutions across Europe.
Already engaged in supporting diamond publishing, the University of Lorraine naturally aligns with this initiative. The Publishing Department of the Documentation Directorate is involved in the AEGIS project for the university.
