By Chrismaël Marchand
President Emmanuel Macron began a visit to Japan on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 to strengthen Franco-Japanese partnerships in civil nuclear, technological innovation, and space.
Other aspects of the economy will also be discussed as many business leaders accompany the president on this fourth trip to the archipelago, including one from Manche.
Saint James Well-Established in Japan
Luc Lesénéchal, President of Saint James, a company specializing in marine clothing, will be part of the delegation. A natural choice for the CEO of the southern Manche company well-established in the Land of the Rising Sun with ten stores, about a hundred points of sale, and a dedicated Japanese website.
“This invitation is linked to the success of the 2025 Osaka World Expo, where Saint James had the opportunity to manage the French Pavilion store in collaboration with Arteum, where French-made products were proudly represented,” commented Luc Lesénéchal on LinkedIn before heading to Japan.
“Japan is a demanding partner, with whom we share a similar culture of detail, quality, and craftsmanship. It is precisely in this field that French know-how has its place.” – Luc Lesénéchal, CEO of Saint James
The Manche CEO, decorated with the Legion of Honor by President Macron in October 2023, intends to once again promote the expertise of the French economy during this official visit, where he represents the French Savoir-Faire Institute.
“Promoting France Internationally”
“This trip is an opportunity to uphold a strong belief: our companies not only have a purpose to produce in France but also to shine internationally,” he affirms.
“Supporting the export of excellent know-how is to support our companies in their development, promote a certain idea of quality and manufacturing, as well as strengthen the attractiveness of our industry. In an increasingly competitive environment, this support is essential.”
