Analysis of Cultural Philanthropy Partnerships at the Local Level
If the Ministry of Culture and Communication has been reviving efforts in support of philanthropy in the cultural sector since 2003, the practices, which are very diverse in terms of their scale and scope of intervention within the cultural field, remain relatively unknown. Thirty years after the creation of the Association for the Development of Industrial and Commercial Philanthropy (Admical), five years after the passing of the law on August 1, 2003 aimed at promoting philanthropy by companies and individuals while easing the tax burden on foundations, the diversity of established partnerships called for an analysis in a still largely unexplored area: local philanthropy. By choosing to understand this diversity through partnerships between cultural actors and private companies, the study took a completely new perspective by focusing on how these operations were covered by regional daily press. The emphasis is placed on the importance of local partnerships, reminding us of the significance of a cultural connection to a specific territory, as evidenced by the involvement of corporate sponsors in heritage restoration projects as well.
