In Martigues, the Salins Theater is multiplying initiatives outside its walls this spring. The goal is to make live performances accessible to everyone, especially young people, at the heart of schools and neighborhoods.

As part of its commitment to artistic and cultural education, the Salins Theater, a National Stage in Martigues, is implementing two off-site projects to meet the residents and youth of the area this April.

These initiatives revolve around two highlights: “360-degree dance stories in one day,” a national program by the National Dance Center, and “Our Gardens,” a show by the Double Company presented in several neighborhoods of the city.

An immersion in dance within schools

The project “360-degree dance stories in one day” offers artistic immersion directly in schools. Intended for students of all ages, it aims to introduce and practice different forms of dance from various time periods and cultures.

Supervised by artists and mediators, students and adults participate in a program focused on commitment, openness, and sharing, with the aim of better understanding choreographic culture.

Two days are scheduled in partner schools: at Gérard Philipe College on April 28 and at Antoine Tourrel School on April 30.

A show at the heart of neighborhoods

In parallel, the show “Our Gardens” by the Double Company will be presented in various local venues in Martigues: Langevin and Lurçat high schools, as well as in the neighborhood centers of Notre-Dame-des-Marins and Boudème / Jonquières.

This project addresses contemporary themes such as civic engagement, environmental preservation, and the collective. The performances will be accompanied by artist meetings and theater practice workshops for young people, focusing on speaking out.

A desire to open up culture for all

Supported notably by the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs (DRAC), the Prefecture delegated for equal opportunities, and the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis, these projects are part of the 2026 city contract.

Through these actions, the Salins Theater aims to further integrate artistic creation into the daily lives of residents, by investing in schools, neighborhoods, and social structures, and by promoting access to a shared culture.
