Defense correspondents perform a mandatory function within the municipal council, serving the army-nation link.
During the installation of the new municipal council of Lanta, Marcel Farge, a resident of the municipality, honorary lieutenant commander and mission officer, reminded of a legal obligation: each municipal council must designate a defense correspondent among its elected officials.
“This function, enacted by deliberation, revolves around three main axes: defense policy, citizen pathway, as well as memory and heritage,” emphasizes Marcel Farge
A true information relay, the defense correspondent informs elected officials and residents about defense issues. They also guide administrators towards appropriate structures, including the Center for Information and Recruiting of the Armed Forces (Cirfa), for questions related to military careers, volunteering, or the reserve.
Present in all territories, this reference plays an essential role for young people, especially during the citizen census, and contributes to strengthening the connection between the military and the population.
To support these elected officials in their mission, the departmental military delegation of Haute-Garonne regularly organizes information meetings, with the support of Cirfa.
