On the afternoon of March 30, at the National Broadcasting Center (58 Quan Su Street, Hanoi), Voice of Vietnam radio held a press conference to provide information about the Broadcasting Festival.
The 17th National Radio Festival – Quang Ninh 2026, with the theme “Radio for a strong and prosperous Vietnam”, takes place in a context where the country has just gone through many important political events, laying the groundwork for an overall development of revolutionary journalism.
This biennial event aims to reward outstanding works and provide broadcasters from across the country a platform to exchange, learn, and promote innovation. This year, the festival attracted 73 delegations, nearly 1,000 participants, including units from Voice of Vietnam; 34 provincial and municipal newspapers and broadcasting agencies; 2 units from the Security and Military Forces; and 8 other media outlets. In total, 343 entries were submitted across all categories, with 97 belonging to the Podcast category, showcasing the strong growth of digital audio journalism.
The entries covered various genres, such as live radio shows, documentaries, thematic programs, and radio shows in ethnic languages. It is worth noting that podcasts appeared for the first time among the official contest categories, reflecting the inevitable development of audio journalism in a multi-platform media environment.
The increasing presence of podcasts is considered a highlight of this year’s festival. In a context of intense competition between digital platforms and evolving information consumption habits, podcasts not only help expand their audience but also reach a new generation of viewers. The organizing committee encourages participants to submit original, information-rich productions tailored to the digital format.
As part of the Festival, the international seminar “Podcast: a creative boulevard for radio in the digital age” will bring together many Vietnamese and foreign experts and journalists to share their experiences and current trends in modern audio content development. This forum is expected to significantly shape the future of Vietnamese radio.
Additionally, a series of professional activities and networking events will be organized, including the final competition, professional workshops, an opening ceremony with a grand artistic program, and a closing ceremony with awards presentation. These events will be broadcast live on numerous radio, television, and digital platforms.
