Rihanna’s selfie taken at the SNCF train station in Épinal, Vosges, has been circulating the internet. Many believed this photo had been generated by artificial intelligence, but it was actually taken by Charles Petit, a programmer at Omega Spectacles, on March 21, 2026. While waiting for his train, he unexpectedly came face to face with the singer, her partner A$AP Rocky, and their security guards.
A surprise appearance that, according to the mayor Benoît Jourdain, may hint at a possible future purchase of an architect’s villa in the town. Rihanna is not the only celebrity to have chosen à Épinal as her temporary residence.
Charlotte Casiraghi, Eva Longoria…
Several months ago, during the release of her book “La fêlure,” Charlotte Casiraghi expressed her fondness for the city in an interview with Vosges Matin, where she spends weekends. She noted the locals’ connection to their region, finding it very touching and appreciating the simplicity and warmth that she feels when visiting.
Another star who has settled in the region is Eva Longoria. Last July, she spent a few days in the Vosges countryside filming a culinary show for CNN. Has Épinal become a new sanctuary for celebrities seeking tranquility in recent years?
Between nature and heritage
Crossed by the Moselle River, the town with just over 30,000 inhabitants is the largest in the department. Known for its popular imagery, it now hosts the Image Museum, showcasing a collection of over 100,000 French and international images.
While the region is renowned for its lush nature ideal for hiking, history and heritage also thrive. Overlooking the historic center, the remains of the town’s castle and its park are perfect for a sunny stroll. The Saint-Maurice basilica, built between the 11th and 13th centuries, is a must-see. Not to forget the planetarium and marina where boats can be rented. The celebrities seem to fully enjoy the peaceful way of life in the area.
