On Sunday, March 22nd in the morning, the installation session of the municipal council took place with the presence of the 33 members, including both majority and opposition representatives.

All thirty-three members were present, twenty-six supporting Annonay at the heart of the re-elected mayor, Simon Plénét, and seven supporting the Annonay Demain list led by Marc-Antoine Quenette.

Bernard Champanhet, the assembly’s dean, presided over the beginning of the session, while Edith Mantelin, the female equivalent, was designated as secretary. They were accompanied by the two youngest council members: Elodie Pallandre (Annonay Demain group) and Tifenn Duveau (Annonay at the heart), assigned as assessors to oversee the votes by secret ballot.

The president called for nominations for the mayor’s position, and only one name, without surprise, was mentioned. “The newly elected mayor will therefore be the session’s president,” declared Bernard Champanhet.

Simon Plénét was re-elected as mayor with an absolute majority of 33 votes, precisely at 11:04, with 26 votes in favor and 7 blank ballots, matching the number of councilors in attendance. Plénét emphasized the importance of local democracy and public debate in his initial statements after the reelection.

Marc-Antoine, the opposition leader, then spoke, emphasizing the mayor’s responsibility to promote both participative and representative democracy, hoping that the groups would be integrated into the city’s projects as early as possible.

The mayor proposed nine deputy mayors to be elected as a complete list, which was done after voting. Each deputy mayor was assigned responsibilities ranging from social action to sports, with one null ballot among the votes.
