The Palace of the Popes, a historic and gastronomic venue. This Thursday, March 26th, for the third consecutive year, a grand banquet was held in the Jeanne-Laurent space. A dinner of a somewhat unusual style since the participants, without prior knowledge of the menu, were invited to taste their dishes blindfolded.
Allies on four legs
Just before mealtime, during the aperitif, while the socializing was in full swing, three young dogs discretely slipped between small groups and hors d’oeuvres. Guide dogs, trained by the Gaillanne foundation, at the origin of the event, which has been providing these four-legged allies to visually impaired and blind youth for over twenty years.
To join the event on Thursday evening, one had to pay 190 euros. A tidy sum, entirely donated to the foundation based near L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, but necessary when considering that the cost of a single guide dog, including its training, care, and education, amounts to 25,000 euros.
