Hundreds of agitators clashed with police outside a federal complex in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday as “No Kings” protests spread across Southern California and the nation. About two hundred troublemakers taunted officers, shook metal gates, and shouted profanities. Protesters, many masked and promoting anti-ICE, anti-war, and pro-Palestine causes, baited agents with megaphones and insults.

Authorities warned the protesters, who threw pink smoke bombs, wood pieces, and water over the fences. After subsequent warnings, tear gas was shot at the rioters and arrests were made. The situation descended into chaos, with LAPD officers, federal agents, and police on horseback on site. A citywide tactical alert was issued due to incidents near the Metropolitan Detention Center.

LA’s top federal prosecutor Bill Essayli reported that agents were attacked at the scene. He mentioned that federal agents have started arresting those who assaulted personnel at the courthouse. Demonstrators swarmed downtown LA for the “No Kings” protest, joining a nationwide wave of left-leaning radical groups attacking President Trump.

Protesters railed against ICE raids and the war in Iran, calling for Trump’s impeachment. The Liberty Hill Foundation, a social justice nonprofit, was among the leading groups participating in the protest. Kamala Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff, attended a star-studded Malibu rally for the “No Kings” cause. Actor Sam Elliott also attended the rally, wearing a shirt that read: “Vote the bum out.”

Emhoff spoke at the rally, which was one of 41 that took place across Southern California. Comedian Kathy Griffin, known for controversial actions against President Trump, also attended the event.
