The Strasbourg-based company Sounduct will celebrate its fifth anniversary this year and more than that! It should also mark the commercialization of its hearing device Ossiclear on the North American market. “We hope to do so this summer,” slipped Olivier Gauthier, its president, who received the trophy for Social and Societal Innovation. Last November, he had already received the national trophy Inpi-France 2030.
A local production
Totally “disruptive,” this device will operate by “bone conduction.” In other words, it will capture the surrounding sound and mechanically convert it into vibrational energy diffused against the skull by an electromagnet. It will meet the needs of individuals unable to use traditional devices, including those suffering from “total deafness,” explains Olivier Gauthier.
Its production will take place in the Eurometropole. The models distributed in North America will not escape the rule. A financing round of 3 million euros was completed last year with a view to setting up a pilot production line. The arrival of Ossiclear in the French and European markets is expected next year.
