The year 2025 was not exceptional for cinemas, and the Ciné Breiz, the associative cinema of Paimpol (Côtes-d’Armor), was no exception.

With 27,323 entries, the cinema recorded a decrease of 25.56% compared to 2024 (36,705 entries):

“No film exceeded 1,000 entries in 2025. In 2024, we had successes with ‘Un petit truc en plus’ and ‘le Comte de Monte-Cristo’,” said Jean-Michel Guégan, president of Ciné Breiz.

While this number may seem worrying, it is in line with a national context where attendance has dropped by about 13.6%.

Successes of 2025 included 574 sessions for 279 films, with a focus on original versions.

The film ‘En fanfare’ was a hit, topping the local box office with 836 entries, followed by ‘Avatar 3’. School cinema also had a significant turnout with 3,611 students from kindergarten to high school.

There were also some disappointments in 2025, such as ‘Comme des riches’ and ‘Nouvelle vague’.

The label “Art and Essai” is a strong identity claimed by Ciné Breiz, promoting quality programming and local events.

Partnerships in 2025 were well-received, including films from the “Coup de cœur Surprise” program and collaborations with UTL and Connaissance du Monde.

Ciné Breiz not only shows films but also creates social connections through post-screening discussions on social issues or the environment. The exceptional commitment of the 47 volunteers was also acknowledged.

The president, Jean-Michel Guégan, who has been with the association for 16 years, celebrated his 52nd year within the establishment.

“I hope this report accurately reflects the activity of our cinema. The year 2025 was still enjoyable, thanks to the 47 volunteers. Let’s keep it going!” concluded the president.
