The crowd gathered on a special day, Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the regional conservatory in Châteauroux, on Place Monestier, for its open house event. Cellos, pianos, lyrical singing, clarinets… It’s the perfect time for aspiring musicians to try out instruments and meet the teachers. They also have the opportunity to watch demonstrations.
“Olahi, olaho”, in the grand Debussy hall, children sing about their love for instruments, in front of parents and adoring children. As the song ends, “now, let’s move on to the rhythms and you’ll do it with me,” says Adrien Locciola, a music theory teacher. “And get comfortable; you might get warm.”
“The body follows the rhythm”
The audience follows the instructions, moving around the room, sometimes leaning against the wall they were standing against. And they’re off. First, steps to follow in rhythm; then, hand clapping. The music starts and the whole room gets involved. About fifty people take two steps forward, two steps back, punctuated by a unified clap…
