A large crowd of supporters invaded the campus of Nha Trang University to attend the opening ceremony and cheer enthusiastically for the six teams participating in the 2026 International Students Sports Tournament, including the team from Svay Rieng University (Cambodia), the team from the University of Laos, the team from the National University of Malaysia, the team from the National University of Singapore, the team from the Water Resources University, and the host team, Nha Trang University.
During the opening ceremony, journalist Nguyen Ngoc Toan, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Youth Union, Editor-in-Chief of the Thanh Nien newspaper, and President of the organizing committee, declared: “Exactly one year ago, the first international tournament of young and student football took place in Ho Chi Minh City. The inaugural student football tournament in Southeast Asia was organized by Thanh Nien newspaper, in collaboration with the Vietnamese Football Federation. The tournament was a resounding success, fully achieving the organization’s goals: promoting exchanges, improving football techniques, and strengthening friendship and cooperation among universities in the region.”
