Anne-Marie Gil elected mayor, six deputies appointed, continuity and respect for commitments at the heart of the speeches.

The die is cast and all Sorèziens agree that the Municipal election campaign took place in a perfectly respectful atmosphere.

From the opening of the installation municipal council, as outgoing mayor, it was Alain Schmidt who announced the results, 19 seats for Anne-Marie Gil’s list and 4 for his own list. The presidency of the assembly was handed over to Gérard de La Léotoing as the dean. In his speech, he recalled previous terms of office and in particular stated: “We are only passing through around a table that belongs to no one but the common interest… We have been elected to represent, listen, decide, sometimes arbitrate, but always with a sense of regularity and respect for institutions.”

This was followed by the installation and election of the mayor, Anne-Marie Gil, and the appointment of the six deputies, namely Claude Bonnoure, 1st deputy (finance, economic development, culture), Nathalie Thuries (schools), Thierry Semat (works and urban planning), Lydia Ungar-Salviac (social affairs), Claude Dauget (security, sports, and associations), and finally Virginie Thomas (youth).

To conclude the meeting, Alain Schmidt’s speech was particularly well received by everyone. He emphasized that at least 80% of the announced projects have been completed and that with his three elected colleagues, they will not work in opposition, just as the four people from the other list have agreed to work with him in good harmony: “We will not oppose. But we have a duty to represent the 41.3% of Sorèziens who voted for us. We will also ensure that the commitments you have made are honored.” He also recalled the town center contract that commits the municipality until 2028. To end the evening, the mayor highlighted the most important issues, including schools, businesses, housing, events, youth, solidarity, and especially the mixed union of the abbey.
